Timber Fencing
Timber paling fences are a durable and renewable form of fencing that are constructed using a combination of soft and hard woods.
PALINGS
-Chemically treated for durability.
-Sit atop the plinth and are fixed to the rails with galvanised nails with either screw or coil shanks.
-Generally cut from low-grade timber and may contain knots and other cosmetic defects.
-Standard thickness is 12mm, but being rough sawn, they can vary from 10mm to 14mm in thickness.
RAILS
-Rough sawn from treated pine.
-Generally 75x50mm.
-Fixed into notches manually cut into the fence posts with three 90mm electronically galvanised framing nails for each point of contact with the post.
PLINTHS
-The horizontal plank of timber which sits at the bottom of the fence.
-Standard plinths are 150x25mm.
-Rough sawn from treated pine.
-Fixed to the posts with four 90mm electronically galvanised framing nails at each point of contact with the post.
-200x50mm sleeper plinths are available at additional cost to accommodate for changes in ground level.
-Sleeper plinths are fixed to the post with two heavy duty outdoor timber screws at each point of contact with the post.
POSTS
-Class 1 or 2 durability including Red Gum, Yellow Stringy Bark, Jarrah, Bloodwood, Cypress Pine and Karri.
-Minimum post depth 600mm.
-We use 20kg of cement per post for extra durability, which is twice the average amount of cement used by our competitors.
NAILS
-We use electronically galvanised nails.
-90mm framing nails are used for plinths and rails.
-54mm screw or coil shank nails are used for palings.
CAPPING
-Optional addition to fences available at extra cost.
-Cut from CCA Treated Pine.
-Can offer additional protection to the palings.
-Changes the aesthetic of the fence.
FENCE EXTENSIONS
-Optional addition to fences available at extra cost.
-Variety of patterns available.
GATES
-Constructed from galvanised steel frames made from 30x30mm square tube.
-Can be cladded to match the rest of the fence, including with palings, slats and pickets.
-Come with a padbolt latch as standard.
-Key locking latches are available at additional cost.
-Timber gate frames are available, but generally not recommended as they are more likely to warp than a metal frame.
Fence Repairs
-We offer post repairs and partial fence replacement where appropriate.
-Considering the fence is otherwise in good condition, post repairs can restore the fence to a plumb (vertically straight) position.
Colorbond Fences
Colorbond fences are becoming popular due to their impactful aesthetic, durability and low maintenance.
-Timber sleeper plinths are a cost effective option to add height to your Colorbond fence.
-Colorbond posts are set a minimum of 600mm deep into the ground, using 40kg of concrete per post for superior durability.
Retaining Walls
-We offer the construction of retaining walls where required for the construction of some boundary fences.
-Galvanised 10mm steel brackets offer a secure mounting point for timber and Colorbond fence posts.
-Timber and concrete sleepers are available.
**Please Note: Treated Pine elements must be allowed to properly weather before being painted. Generally a period of 3-4 months is sufficient weathering for the fence before paint is applied. Failure to allow for adequate weathering may cause damage to the fence and prevent the paint from adhering properly.
